What's Happening at the Telus World of Science?

Telus World of Science, good known to Vancouverites naturally as Science World, has been a beloved destination for science enthusiasts fluctuating from elementary school students to adults. With its unique surface design, the geodesic dome shape, Science World can be in effect identified as the giant sphere situated along False Creek. It has also been affectionately called the "silver golf ball".

Various exhibitions and shows are happening at Science World all the time. Past exhibition includes Body Worlds, the anatomical exhibition of real human body parts, which was very anticipated. Exhibitions are usually shown for a minute time only, so it may be a good idea to keep track of what exhibitions are coming to town so you don't miss out on the ones you want to see. The current exhibition at Science World is Geee! in Genome, which focuses on genomics. Topics consist of genes, Dna, genomes, stem cells, and anyone that you can maybe think of relating to genomics.

California Sky Diving

The Omnimax theatre is a 400-seat theatre showing assorted documentaries on a giant screen, one of the world's largest, that is nine times larger than regular movie theatre screens. Forty-five minute long documentaries are shown throughout the day, beginning at 11 am. The following is a overview of the currently airing highlight films.

Beavers

This film focuses on a family of beavers, the world's many engineers, as they tackle on the world nearby them.

Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta

Ibn Battuta, a great explorer, undertakes a journey through the Islamic civilization from Tangier to Mecca in the years 1325 and 1326.

Adrenaline Rush: The Science of Risk

Learn about why some population enjoy taking risks such as ultimate skydiving and base jumping.

Van Gogh: Brush with Genius

Dive into the life of Van Gogh and learn about the assorted places that inspired him and his artwork.

As with the highlight exhibitions, highlight films are only ready for a minute time, so please check the agenda ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

There are 6 permanent galleries within Science World. They are: Kidspace, Eureka, Our World, BodyWorks, Search, and Science News and Views. They contribute a wealth of facts and hands-on activities for both kids and adults to fill in the time in the middle of films and presentations.

Other events are also happening at the Science World. The upcoming Polar Pj Party allows visitors to come dressed in their comfy pajamas and catch a showing of The Polar Express. There are also adult-only events, where adults 19 years and older can enjoy a night at Science World without any kids around. There are no restriction that these adults must behave like adults, however.
