Vietnam's tourism industry is hoping for a banner year in 2008. Government officials are estimating an growth of nearly 20% over 2007. Traditionally a deal destination, Vietnam is increasing it's list of traveler attractions to include cruise ship facilities, golf courses and destination-type resorts that include all inclusive facilities and services.

The biggest gains are evidenced by the growth of "small-time operators" in Vietnam's traveler industry: internet cafes abound, small tour boat operators offer 1/2 day cruises, and hidden cars furnish local communication and foreign language speaking driver/guides. Craft, tailor and souviner shops are everywhere. Farmers grow fruits and vegetables for restaurants and hotels. They're also growing prosperous.
